Outlook wont start

Microsoft Outlook is a very useful mail app and one of the most popular Ms Office app, so it can be very frustrating and irritated to not get mail, especially if it is waiting for important mail or has to be sent.

Usually, the problem is an outdated version of Office, a broken add-on, a broken navigation pane, broken pst file or prifle. This solutions applies to Outlook Office 365, 2016,2013 and 2010 desktop app versions.

Error: “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook Windows.”

First we install the latest version of Ms Office. If not better, try to reset the navigation pane and then try to open the outlook using the command outlook.exe/resetnavpane ( click on windows + R) and then try again to open outlook.
If outlook still didn’t open then maybe the add-ons are the problem. They may be outdated and this causes an error. you can determine this by trying to open outlook in safe mode outlook.exe/safe . you can find culprit by deactivating all the add-ons and then activating them one by one.

If even safe mode didn’t help then it must be broken profile or pst file.

Repair pst filw with scanpst.exe

Where to find this tool? This tool is available to anyone who has installed Ms Office and the folder depends on the Office Version:
Outlook 2016 (64-Bit, Click-to-Run Installation) \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
Outlook 2016 (32-Bit, Click-to-Run Installation) \Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
Outlook 2016 (32-Bit, MSI-based Installation) \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16
Outlook 2013 (32-Bit, Click-to-Run Installation) \Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
Outlook 2013 (32-Bit, MSI-based Installation) \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
Outlook 2010 (32-Bit) \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

After opening scanpst tool you select individual pst to fix. If the file si partially damaged, the tool will try to repair it as much as possible and unrepairable will be deleted.

If none of the pst files wwre corrupted, then the profile may be damaged. a new one must be created and all new mailboxes and associated pst files must be added again.

Finally, my profile was broken, so i couldn’t get to my bailboxes. Creating new profile helped.
Otherwise, another option was available – repair outlook/office.
