One security patch for all Google Chrome users that I recommend editing:
Disable “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”
Why is it not necessary to run programs in the background when chrome is closed?
Many apps run in the Chrome browser in the background, even though we are currently using them. The intention is purely well-intentioned. Virus scan, notification when a new mail arrives, upgrade add-ons and the like.
Of course, there are also disadvantages such as. use of RAM and CPU, although there is no need, especially if several different browsers are used at the same time. In the worst case, if a click installs an add-on in chrome, which is malware and works nicely in the background, even when Chrome is open….
Google Chrome
In Chrome, go under settings – optional – the system and disable Continue running programs in the background when Google Chrome is closed.
Register
On your computer, if of course you have local administrator rights, you can edit this in the registry:
HKLM / Software / Policies / Google / Chrome / BackgroundModeEnabled
REG_DWORD value: 0
Group policy
In a larger environment, of course, group policy is used:
Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Classic Administrative Template (ADM) \ Google \ Google Chrome \ Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed
Value: Disabled
